As Women’s Equal Pay Day approaches, on March 12th, EQUALS TRUE stands firm in our commitment to advancing gender equality and advocating for fair and equal compensation in the workplace. In the United States and many countries around the world, despite strides toward progress, the gender pay gap remains a persistent challenge. According to the latest data (Pew Research Center, U.S. Census Bureau) women in the U.S. earn only 82 cents for every dollar earned by men. And in other countries that number can grow to as much as a 50% difference.

This alarming disparity is not merely a reflection of wage inequality, but also indicative of broader systemic issues afflicting the workforce. Shockingly, women make up less than a third of the global technology workforce, underscoring the barriers hindering their full participation and advancement in this vital sector. In fact, according to the International Labor Organization (ILO) only 47% of working-age women are actively engaged in the global workforce, with even lower rates in certain regions.


Moreover, bias continues to pose a significant obstacle in technical recruitment, with a staggering 65% of tech recruiters acknowledging its prevalence

This clear gender pay bias, compounded by the recent global pandemic, is further exacerbated by a lack of women in senior positions, market forces, historical cultural norms, and the everyday talent challenges faced by growing companies. Left unchecked, these factors undermine endeavors toward genuine workplace gender equality and perpetuates a cycle that hampers women’s progress and economic empowerment. But there is some daylight emerging. In an acknowledgment of this disparity, more than 38% of surveyed companies in 2023 indicated a willingness to allocate additional resources toward enhancing more equitable talent acquisition and management efforts. This includes partnerships with talent companies like EQUALS TRUE, which prioritize values like pay equality and possess the requisite expertise to implement an equitable and inclusive recruitment process.
